It’s so easy to take pictures and videos with smartphones these days, but before you know it, you’re getting warnings that you’re running out of storage space. Instead of frantically scrolling through your camera roll deciding which photos and videos you can delete to make room for, let Carousel by Dropbox help you out.
Carousel by Dropbox is an app that organizes your photos and videos by date, time, and event. And it automatically backs up new photos you take on your phone. Anytime you want to view your photos, you can use Dropbox instead of the default Camera Roll installed on your phone for a much more organized view.
And now, Dropbox is updating its Carousel app so it frees up storage for you. Here’s how it works. Carousel will notify you when you’re about to run out of space on your phone. Then, it gives you the option to delete all the photos on your phone that are already backed up and stored safely in Dropbox. All you have to do is tap a button to allow Carousel to delete these photos and free up space.
And don’t worry about Carousel making a mistake and deleting the wrong photo. Each photo has a unique identifier, and Dropbox knows which ones are already saved in their server. Even if you have plenty of storage space on your phone, this is a great option to keep your phone neat and tidy, and running at full speed. Carousel will also leave the last 30 days of photos untouched—just in case you hadn’t gotten around to editing or posting those pictures to social accounts.
The Carousel app is currently available for both Android and iOS. For help with Carousel, make sure to visit their page on Dropbox.
